REPORT: Celtic Set Decision Date For Lennon’s Sacking

Celtic intend to keep manager Neil Lennon in charge and may only look to sack him after the next Glasgow derby on January 2nd, according to the Football Insider.

Following a meeting with the club’s owner Dermot Desmond and chief executive Peter Lawwell yesterday, it was decided that Lennon would be afforded a stay of execution in order to turn things around.

Many felt the abject performance against Sparta Prague on Thursday night was the point of no return for Lennon but he still commands the support of the Celtic board who will give him the next month to improve results.

The Hoops are currently 11 points behind Rangers and the concern is that they could fall even further behind the league leaders before the next derby. Were they to then lose at Ibrox in the New Year, their hopes of retaining the title could have ended. Fans will, therefore, be hoping for some better displays in upcoming matches.
