Report Details Celtic ‘Gamble’ That Has Led Them To Consider 15M Sale

Outside of Celtic Park

Celtic are considering selling Odsonne Edouard to Leicester for as low as £15m because they believe they will get a sizeable sell-on clause in exchange, according to the Daily Mail.

The newspaper reports that the Hoops are taking a “gamble” that the Frenchman will be sold on for a higher figure in the future so they are willing to agree a lower fee with Leicester for the forward.

Arsenal and Roma are also interested in Edouard but, with the Foxes said to be prepared to hand over a large portion of any future fee they get for the striker, it seems Brendan Rodgers’ side will win the race for the 23-year-old’s signature.

As things stand, though, it would mean that Celtic won’t make any profit on the £9m they paid Paris Saint-Germain for the player three years ago. The Hoops themselves have a sell-on agreement with PSG, which means 40% of the proceeds from his sale will go to the Ligue One side. Therefore, if Edouard is sold for £15m, £6m will be heading to France.
