Rodgers Eyes Move For Celtic Star After Sending Scout To See Him Against Lazio

Ex-Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers is keen on signing Celtic defender Kristoffer Ajer for his current team Leicester, according to the Daily Mail. The Foxes reportedly sent their scout Sean St Ledger to run the rule over the Norwegian on Thursday when the Hoops triumphed against Lazio.

The English club are looking for a replacement for Harry Maguire who was sold to Manchester United for £80m. Rodgers has also previously said that his side will be actively looking for a centre-back in the January transfer window, not only because of Maguire but because of captain Wes Morgan nearing the end of his career.

Leicester are not the only team keen on Ajer, though, with Crystal Palace also believed to have scouted the 21-year-old this season.

Both clubs would, though, have to pay a sizeable transfer fee if they do bid for the defender in January.

When asked about AC Milan’s interest back in August, Celtic boss Neil Lennon said that the club valued him a lot higher than the £15m that the Hoops were reportedly demanding.
