Romano Reveals 31 Cap International Is Set To Hold Contract Talks Ahead Of Move To Celtic

Celtic are expected to discuss personal terms with Montreal Impact full-back Alistair Johnston after reaching a “verbal agreement” with his club, according to journalist Fabrizio Romano.

The Canadian, who has been capped 31 times by his country, is currently away at the World Cup but Romano says the Hoops are pressing ahead to get a “deal done”:

Johnston can also play as a centre-half but he is ostensibly a right-back, which raises further question marks over the future of Josip Juranovic.

Talks with the Croatian over a contract extension have stalled and Celtic are said to be bracing for offers from interested clubs when the transfer window reopens in January.

Juranovic has been linked with the likes of Chelsea, Manchester United and Atletico Madrid but no formal bids have been made for the defender so far. Even so, it appears that manager Ange Postecoglou has already found his replacement, with Johnston poised to join the Scottish champions.
