Second EPL Side Join City In Battling Celtic For South American Starlet

Watford have entered the battle for Ecuadorian starlet Jose Cifuentes, according to the Sun. Hornets boss Quique Sanchez Flores used the most recent international break to see the midfielder in action for his country.

The 20-year-old, who has bee interesting Celtic and Manchester City, made his full debut for Ecuador in a 6-1 friendly loss to Argentina last week, but despite the sizeable defeat, he made an impression on Flores.

Cifuentes still plays in his home country for Universidad Catolica, and while he has previously expressed a desire to move abroad, the number of third parties involved have prevented a transfer from going ahead.

Celtic manager Neil Lennon mentioned back in July that Cifuentes was a player his scouting department were looking at, although at the time he emphasised that there was no formal approach.

If they do step up their interest in the future, though, it appears they now have two English Premier League clubs to contend with.
