Serie A Giants Add Celtic Star To Three Man Shortlist Of Summer Transfer Targets

Celtic centre-back Kristoffer Ajer is one of three defenders being targeted by AC Milan, according to reports in the Italian media.

The Norwegian’s name is being considered, along with RB Leipzig’s Dayot Upamecano and Eintracht Frankfurt’s Evan N’Dicka.

Upamecano is reportedly a target for Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester City while the Gunners and the Reds are also keeping tabs on N’Dicka.

With that being the case, Milan’s most realistic target does appear to be Ajer. Manager Neil Lennon has already responded forcefully to remarks from the centre-half’s agent that his client intends to leave in the summer:

“I’m aware of the comments. The club will decide when players go, not agents or players themselves. Kris has never given any indication he wants to leave. He’s been playing very well, been very consistent.”

However, it is not known how much the Rossoneri would be prepared to pay for the Celtic centre-back. Although the Scottish champions are clearly very reluctant to lose him, the board are known for selling up if a bid meets their asking price.

Ajer does have the potential to improve in the future, considering he is only 21 years of age, and it may be the case that the Hoops will keep hold of him to allow his value to increase further.
