Serie A Side Doing ‘Everything To Sell’ 11M Rated Defender Who Celtic Tried To Sign In The Summer

Sampdoria are “doing everything to sell” centre-back Omar Colley in January, according to CalcioNews24.com.

Reports in England back in September claimed that Celtic made an enquiry for the Gambian international but it is believed the defender was closest to signing for English Premier League side Fulham for €12m (£11m) before the transfer window closed last month.

Colley’s move to Craven Cottage fell through, though, after issues with his work permit. Newcastle, Southampton, West Ham and Rennes were also interested in the 28-year-old and it remains to be seen whether Celtic or any of those clubs will be keen to revive a deal for the player in the New Year.

The Hoops have struggled defensively in recent weeks, despite snapping up Shane Duffy on loan from Brighton, but any deal for Colley would likely be out of reach, considering his asking price, unless they can come to an agreement over a loan move.
