Celtic striker Oh Hyeon-gyu scored a quickfire brace in the Hoops’ last league game of the season against Aberdeen at the weekend.
The South Korean has had to make do with cameos off the bench since moving to Scotland from Suwon Bluewings for £2.5m in the January transfer window.
While there are a few fans on Twitter who are still not convinced that Oh is an upgrade on his predecessor Giorgos Giakoumakis, most feel that the 22-year-old has shown a great deal of potential:
Shows a lot of promise.

You can tell there’s a player there.
No doubt he’ll come good.

He’s been very unlucky with a few that have hit the woodwork as well, only one of the fringe players that has pass marks for me, I think he looks very promising

Think he’s been great overall so far. Great work off the ball & offers nice hold up play that we didn’t have in the squad. Also a beast can bully players

Me too. I think it’s way too early to judge him. He’s missed a few sitters but also been unlucky on a few occasions

He has shown flashes of having a very good touch. Missed some sitters but so has kyogo.

Definitely a big improvement on Giako, who was also a good player to be fair.

There are a lot of factors that supporters should take into account before judging Oh. Firstly, he moved midway through the campaign to a new country without having a preseason.
The forward also had to settle in and learn a new language, as well as adapt to a new style of football. When you consider those complicating factors, you have to say that he has done pretty well.
Seven goals in 20 appearances is not a bad return, especially when you take into account that he is averaging a goal every 80 minutes. You would back him to impress even more during his first full season with Celtic.
