Simon Jordan Dismisses Fellow Pundit’s “Silly” Criticism Of Postecoglou After Celtic Boss Addresses Brighton Rumours

TalkSPORT pundit Simon Jordan has scolded Danny Murphy for making “silly” remarks about Celtic manager Ange Postecoglou.

The Australian responded to reports linking him with the Brighton job in a press conference yesterday, but Murphy questioned why he didn’t flatly deny that he was interested in a move to the Seagulls. Jordan, though, felt there was nothing wrong with what Postecoglou said:

“Well that is silly because everyone knows if Manchester United come in he’d be going. So what he’s saying is, if I’m not successful here there will be other options. What he’s basically saying is in the world of football, the real world, not the sentimental twaddle, I will be taken care of if I’m successful. So it’s cuts both ways.”

It certainly would have been nice if Postecoglou had said plainly that he wasn’t keen on joining Brighton but the 57-year-old was being honest when he made it clear that he was simply focusing on his job at the Hoops.

As Jordan points out, he won’t be drawn into saying anything that could be held against him in the future. Brendan Rodgers made public statements about his commitment to Celtic amid links to Leicester and we all know how that turned out. Postecoglou is probably wise to keep his cards close to his chest.
