Sky Sports Journalist Makes 10M Asking Price Claim As He Provides Update On Celtic Star’s Potential Exit

Celtic have slapped a £10m price tag on defender Kristoffer Ajer, according to Sky Sports journalist Anthony Joseph.

Bayer Leverkusen are thought to be in discussions to sign the Norwegian international, but, despite the player having just one year remaining on his contract, Joseph says the Hoops are keen to get the most they can for the centre-back:

“What we do know is that Bayer Leverkusen are in talks with Celtic to try and sign Kristoffer Ajer. I think Celtic will be hoping to get something near £10 million for him. But it’s no further on than they’re in talks, we know Bayer Leverkusen like him a lot.”

Newcastle and Norwich City are also believed to be interested in Ajer, who has been angling for a move away from Celtic Park for the best part of twelve months.

The 23-year-old reportedly asked to leave the Scottish club before the loss to Ferencvaros in the Champions League qualifier last year.

Celtic will, therefore, be very keen to offload him during the summer transfer window in order to prevent the Norwegian from leaving for nothing at the end of next season. Whether that means they will drop their asking price at some point, we shall have to wait and see.
