Celtic have retained an interest in Union Berlin striker Sebastian Andersson, according to the Guardian‘s Ed Aarons.

The newspaper’s Deputy News Editor has revealed that the Hoops are competing with Newcastle and West Bromwich Albion for the Swedish international’s signature:

Celtic were originally linked with Andersson back in December last year when his contract was set to run out at the end of the season. However, the 28-year-old signed a two-year extension back in February.

It doesn’t appear to have put off the Scottish champions, though, with manager Neil Lennon said to be looking to strengthen his forward line ahead of the new campaign.

Andersson had a good season in front of goal, scoring 13 goals in 36 appearances for his club. He was one of the key reasons why Union Berlin kept their top-flight status, with the Bundesliga club finishing eleventh in the table; ten points above the relegation places.
