Stephen McGowan Rates Jesse Marsch’s Chances Of Becoming Celtic Manager As He Names The Club’s 4 Man Shortlist

Red Bull Salzburg head coach Jesse Marsch is now unlikely to become Celtic’s next manager, according to the Scottish Daily Mail journalist Stephen McGowan.

The reporter, who is usually reliable when it comes to Celtic, says that the American was “high” on the club’s list of options to take over from Neil Lennon but he is now expected to stay in Austria.

McGowan has also confirmed recent reports that the Hoops have held talks with Roy Keane about the vacant managerial post but, crucially, he doesn’t say the ex-Manchester United star will definitely be appointed.

There are three other candidates on the club’s shortlist. Scotland manager Steve Clarke, former Sheffield United boss Chris Wilder and Manchester City Under 23 head coach Enzo Maresca.

The latter two are described as being “interested” in the job while Clarke’s stance is still not known. Some bookies have already suspended betting on Keane getting the job but McGowan doesn’t think it is as cut and dry as that.
