Michael Beale’s side are said to be making a concerted effort to snatch Cho from under the Hoops’ noses, despite the fact the Scottish champions have been working on the deal for weeks.

Mainz were the first team to make an offer for the 24-year-old but it was confirmed over the weekend that Celtic had made a superior bid of around £3m for the player.

At the time of writing, there is no information as to whether Rangers have made a formal proposal of their own, but you would have to say that Ange Postecoglou’s side should still be in the driving seat to get this transfer over the line.

The Hoops are above their fierce rivals in the table, and their chances of winning the title and securing a guaranteed spot in next season’s Champions League group stages are far higher. We shall see how this transfer story plays out.
