Sutton Singles Out The “Rock For Celtic” After Rennes Draw

Former Celtic striker Chris Sutton was full of praise for Christopher Jullien after his performance against Rennes on Thursday night.

The Frenchman has put in a number of excellent performances in recent games and Sutton believes the £7m summer signing has the potential to become a real leader for the Hoops:

“Christopher Jullien looks like he’s going to be a rock for Celtic. It’s dangerous to go overboard on players early but my impression is he makes good decisions defensively. He attacks it at the right times and drops off at the right times.”

“Jullien doesn’t like a bombscare to me. He has the makings of a leader and he was terrific back in his homeland.”

Jullien has certainly upped his game in recent weeks and is now one of the first names on the team sheet for manager Neil Lennon.

Although his centre-back partner Kristoffer Ajer gave away a penalty on the night, both the Norwegian and Jullien are looking like a decent partnership and should give the side some defensive solidity.

With Jozo Simunovic requiring knee surgery and Nir Bitton out for a few weeks with a hamstring injury, Jullien will be relied upon to continue his good form in all competitions in upcoming games.

As Sutton says, though, the way he is performing at the moment, fans should be confident that the defender is up to the task.
