“That’s Not Going To Happen” Pundit Downplays Reports That Celtic Could Take Part In New Competition

TalkSPORT presenter Alan Brazil has played down the prospect of Celtic and rivals Rangers joining an expanded English Premier League in the near future.

The idea has been around for a number of years but was given fresh attention by an article in the English press earlier this week. Despite the speculation, Brazil believes there is no chance of it happening:

“Celtic and Rangers Premier League, they keep talking about that, I think that’s a body swerve, that’s not going to happen.”

It’s probably fair to say that any restructuring of the English game would have been put on hold, following the fallout surrounding the collapse of the European Super League this week.

The so-called ‘Big Six’ have been widely criticised for their actions, and there is now a division between them and the other 14 clubs, which could make it difficult for agreements to be reached on important issues in the future.

For Celtic supporters, there would be very little attraction to becoming part of the Premier League anyway, with the possible exception of the increased financial benefits.
