The £100m Financial Shortfall That Could Boost Celtic’s Chances Of Signing Two Players

Southampton pair Fraser Forster and Mohamed Elyounoussi could both be available for bargain prices this summer due to the Saints’ financial situation.

The Daily Star reports that majority owner Gao Jisheng is struggling to sell his share in the club, and if a sale doesn’t go through, the vast majority of the English team’s squad would be put up for sale in order to raise £100m.

Celtic boss Neil Lennon has already expressed his desire to keep both Forster and Elyounoussi for next season but the suggestion has been that these would only be loan deals.

With Southampton needing the cash, it’s likely that the duo will be made available for transfer, which raises the question over whether the Hoops will have the funds to sign both players.

Forster would be the one that Lennon would be most keen on snapping up, though, and considering the Saints already have two other keepers in Alex McCarthy and Angus Gunn, they would probably be open to selling for a reasonable price.
