The Three Players Who Could Sign For Celtic Before Deadline Day

Outside of Celtic Park

Despite having spent approximately £15m on four new signings, Celtic are expected to continue their recruitment drive by snapping up more players before the transfer deadline next month.

There are certainly a number of areas where manager Neil Lennon will feel he needs reinforcements, especially in wide areas where the Hoops currently have very limited options.

Fans will be hoping that a number of deals will be made between now and October 5th, with the hope of having the strongest squad possible to secure their tenth league title in a row.

Press the next page as we look at three signings that the club could make in the next few weeks.

Alfie Doughty

Following Boli Bolingoli’s departure for Istanbul Basaksehir on loan, with an option to buy at the end of the season, Celtic’s attempts to sign a new left-back will likely be stepped up.

Doughty appears to be the favourite with the Hoops having already had one bid rejected by Charlton for the player. A second offer, which is reportedly worth £400,000 plus add-ons, has been prepared, but it remains to be seen whether the Addicks will accept the proposal. The player is out of contract in the summer so the Scottish champions could still sign him on a pre-contract agreement in January, but they would be keen to have a backup for Greg Taylor this campaign.

Bright Osayi-Samuel

Another player who is out of contract next year, the Queens Park Rangers winger is being targeted by Celtic as they look to strengthen their options in wide areas. With Mikey Johnston out injured, Lennon only really has James Forrest and Mohamed Elyounoussi in his squad who are genuine wingers.

QPR will have a decision to make on Osayi-Samuel due to his situation but manager Mark Warburton has already said that the 22-year-old won’t play if he decides to stay but doesn’t sign a new deal. A move could well be on the cards before deadline day.

Ben Davies

It is believed that the Hoops are still keeping tabs on the centre-back, but it is thought a formal offer for the defender will only be made if the Scottish club do sell Kristoffer Ajer, with the Norwegian having been heavily linked with moves to Italy and the Premier League.

Davies is unlikely to be cheap, despite his contract expiring next summer, with Bournemouth reportedly having had a £5m offer rejected by Preston for the centre-half.
