Liverpool defender Nat Phillips is travelling to Glasgow for talks with Celtic over a season-long loan, according to The Athletic journalist James Pearce.
The 26-year-old had been linked with moves to Feyenoord, Middlesbrough and Leeds earlier in the summer but it looks as though he will be making the switch to the Hoops.
Most fans on X are very happy about the prospect of Phillips joining the club before the transfer window closes:
Fantastic signing for us no doubt about it

Get him in 💚😊

Agree. Seen him a few times and impressed me. Obviously a reason why he cant get a game given their CB issues last year but still.

1000% take. Could easily be another ccv situation where he comes good throughout the season.

Phillips has a cult following on Merseyside
Despite only playing a handful of games for Liverpool, the centre-back is highly regarded by Reds supporters.
Phillips played an integral role as Jurgen Klopp’s side finished third in 2021, with the club having gone through an unprecedented injury crisis.
Later that year, he was handed the nickname the “Bolton Baresi” having used a Cruyff turn inside his own box to flummox AC Milan striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
Celtic need reinforcements at the back
With the likes of Cameron Carter-Vickers, Maik Nawrocki, Stephen Welsh and Yuki Kobayashi all on the treatment table, recruiting a new centre-half is vital.
Phillips is known for his no-nonsense defending, and he has a formidable record of winning aerial battles, but he is assured in possession too, and supporters are right to be confident that he will succeed at Celtic Park.
