Arsenal Star ‘Is In Talks’ With Turkish Giants As Celtic’s Transfer Plans Are Dealt A Setback

Celtic transfer target Rob Holding “is in talks” with Turkish Super Lig side Besiktas about a potential loan move, according to the Daily Express.

The English tabloid claims that Arsenal have received an offer from Besiktas to take the defender on a temporary basis.

Holding is weighing up whether he wants to leave the Gunners for Turkey, with discussions now being held ahead of a potential season-long loan.

With the 27-year-old having a year left on his contract, it is expected that Arsenal will trigger their option to extend his current deal for a further twelve months if he does end up joining Besiktas.

It was reported last week that Celtic, Brentford and one other club were pursuing Holding, and it now appears that the identity of the third team has been revealed.

Celtic could consider a loan offer for Holding

When it was claimed that Arsenal were demanding as much as £8m to sell the centre-back, many supporters were against the Scottish champions making an approach for the player.

However, if Holding is available on loan, that could change things. As long as the defender’s wages are not too high, he may be a player that the Hoops should consider pursuing.

A move to Scotland could be more attractive than Turkey

While Besiktas are a high profile European club, they are not exactly rich, and there is every chance that Celtic could compete financially with the Turkish side.

On top of that, they finished third in the league last campaign, meaning that they won’t be in the Champions League next season, unlike Brendan Rodgers’ team.

At this moment in time, it doesn’t seem as if the Hoops are looking to muscle into negotiations with a loan bid of their own, but we shall see how this transfer story unfolds.
