Two Players Return From Injury As Celtic Reserves Hammer Stenhousemuir

Celtic forwards Leigh Griffiths and Jonathan Afolabi both started as the reserves thrashed Stenhousemuir 6-0 in a friendly yesterday.

Griffiths bagged himself a brace on his first appearance following a thigh injury. The 29-year-old has not featured for the first team since August but he looks to be closing in on a return to full fitness.

Hoops boss Neil Lennon did say that the forward needed to get his sharpness back during the international break, and he would have been pleased to see that Celtic’s no.9 lasted 64 minutes before being substituted.

Afolabi has not played for the reserves for over a month, but he came back to make his first start for four matches at Lennoxtown, coming close with an early effort before being taken off at half time.

With Vakoun Issouf Bayo still out injured, having two strikers back in action will be a big boost for Lennon as he looks to take some of the workload off Odsonne Edouard.
