“We Know…” Anthony Joseph Makes Chelsea Claim As He Rates Chances Of Celtic Defender Leaving For 7M

Celtic defender Josip Juranovic is not close to leaving Parkhead as things stand, according to Sky Sports reporter Anthony Joseph.

There have been multiple reports that Monza could sign the Croatian international but Joseph has played down those claims, suggesting that there is still interest in the fullback from bigger teams, including Chelsea:

“I know there are reports in Scotland saying he is close to signing for Monza, but I don’t think he’s close to signing for anyone at the moment. We’ve reported in the past interest from Premier League clubs, meaning Chelsea is one of those clubs.”

“We know there are a lot of other Premier League clubs who are interested as well. And in La Liga as well, we know Barcelona and Atletico Madrid, have registered their interest. So interest hasn’t changed, that hasn’t gone away. And there’s been no formal bids gone for him from those clubs. So he’s clearly in demand.”

It does look as if this transfer saga will run and run. Juranovic is clearly looking to leave the Hoops but, at this stage, no team has put a serious offer on the table.

There have been some suggestions that (in addition to Chelsea, Roma, Barcelona and Atletico Madrid), Manchester United may be eyeing the 28-year-old as a replacement for Aaron Wan-Bissaka. Even then, though, it is believed a deal is dependent on the United player being sold first.

Celtic fans will still be glad to hear that Juranovic is unlikely to be sold for as little as £7m, which would have seriously undervalued the right-back.
