Celtic midfielder Scott Robertson was handed his first-team debut by Neil Lennon on Thursday evening in the 2-0 defeat to Cluj. Although it was a disappointing result, the 18-year-old was one of the standout players on the night.
The teenager was given the full 90 minutes in Romania, and supporters on Twitter felt that the player showed a lot of potential, along with teammate Karamoko Dembele:
Scott Robertson – we’ve got a player there. One of the best debuts I’ve seen from a young player. To play the way he did in the centre of the park speaks volumes for his ability but also the football education he’s so evidently had. Karamoko we know will be good. ?

Scott Robertson was terrific. Great experience also for Karamoko Dembele. Future is looking bright indeed.

Scott looked good. Played with his head up and wanted the ball all the time. The future's bright, the future's green and white. ??????????

Robertson’s inclusion in the starting line up against Cluj was certainly a baptism of fire. He has faced senior teams before but those games came for the reserves in Challenge Cup matches against the likes of Annan Athletic, Queen’s Park and Falkirk.
The youngster certainly showed enough on his debut, though, that could see him be rewarded by more game time in the coming weeks and months. It’s unlikely that he’ll feature regularly but don’t be surprised if there are a few cameos off the bench.
