Windass Sees Edouard Staying If Celtic Appoint Arsenal Legend As Manager

Former Aberdeen striker Dean Windass says he can see a scenario where Celtic’s Odsonne Edouard would opt to stay at Parkhead if the Scottish champions appointed Thierry Henry as their next manager.

The Arsenal legend is a rank outsider for the Hoops job, currently tenth in the running at 12/1 with one bookmaker, but when asked about the prospect of Henry moving to Scotland, Windass remarked it could help with Edouard’s future:

“If Thierry comes in and has a little word and says, ‘this is where I want you to be and you’ll be my main man’, then it might swing it.”

Henry has recently left his post at MLS side Montreal Impact due to personal issues. It is believed he wants to be closer to his family in London. Whether that would impact his interest in the role at Celtic, though, it remains to be seen.

At the moment, former Bournemouth boss Eddie Howe is the favourite to take the job with interim manager John Kennedy second in line. Burnley manager Sean Dyche has moved up to third in the running, with Scotland boss Steve Clarke now fourth.
