5M Flop Poised For Move To Turkey As Celtic Decide To Cut Their Losses

Celtic goalkeeper Vasilis Barkas is interesting a number of clubs in Turkey, according to reports in the UK.

The Greek international has played only 23 matches since he moved from AEK Athens for £5m in the summer of 2020, and the Hoops are expected to let him go for a cut-price fee.

Barkas has made just one appearance under manager Ange Postecoglou, coming in the Australian’s first game in charge against FC Midtjylland.

Since then, the 27-year-old has barely made a matchday squad, with Joe Hart having been brought in from Tottenham for £1m at the beginning of August.

Scott Bain has been Hart’s deputy, with the Scotland international having been handed bench duties by Postecoglou. Barkas, meanwhile, has been left in the stands, with the exception of some Europa League fixtures.

The Greek shot-stopper is unlikely to be seen in a Celtic shirt again before he is shipped out in the January transfer window.
