£9m Rated Striker Set To Turn Down Interest From Celtic And Two Other European Clubs

Trabzonspor striker Caleb Ekuban has decided he will be staying at the Super Lig side this summer, according to reports in the Turkish media.

Celtic were said to be interested in signing the Ghanaian international, along with the likes of Lazio and AC Milan, but the player has reportedly told friends he is happy to remain at his current club.

Ekuban is valued at around €10m (£9m) by Trabzonspor despite only making his move from Leeds to Turkey permanent for £900,000 last July.

Whether the Hoops would have been interested in the 26-year-old at that asking price anyway, it seems unlikely, especially when you factor in the forward’s goal record this season.

Such an outlay would only have been likely if Neil Lennon’s side were looking to replace Odsonne Edouard, and Ekuban’s eight goals in 25 appearances this campaign doesn’t suggest he has the quality to lead the line for the Scottish champions.
