Celtic have signed Sheffield Wednesday defender Osaze Urhoghide, the club have confirmed.
The 20-year-old was out of contract but, due to his age, the Hoops will pay around £200,000 in compensation.
Urgohide does have some first-team experience, having made 21 appearances in all competitions last season, and fans on Twitter are hoping he proves to be a success at Parkhead:
Its all moving now. I expect more to follow in the coming days now

He’s highly rated. Should we not be adding guys like this or just allowing them to be picked up by Leeds etc

It is Celtic’s second signing of the summer, with the first coincidentally being another Wednesday player Liam Shaw. Leeds were also said to be interested in Urhoghide but the Hoops have managed to beat the Premier League side to his signature.
Despite being pursued by top-flight English clubs, though, there are some doubts over whether he’s ready to play regular first-team football. With that being the case, it’s likely that the Scottish club will be looking to pursue another centre-back target. Hajduk Split’s Mario Vuskovic has also been linked so we’ll see if manager Ange Postecoglou chooses to sign both players.
