Celtic midfielder Matt O’Riley got off to a flyer on his debut against Hearts on Wednesday night.
The 21-year-old provided an assist for Giorgos Giakoumakis’s goal, whilst he also created a number of other chances at Tynecastle.
Considering O’Riley only cost Β£1.5m, supporters on Twitter think that the Hoops may have uncovered a real gem, and they hope his good start is a sign of what is to come:
Another real player on our hands πͺπ

Very impressive debut at a difficult venue. Intelligent, quick thinking footballer

Solid debut in a high pressure game, clever player, once his fitness levels are up I think heβll be even better πβοΈ

Β£1.5m is great business for this lad. Tough fixture to make your debut!

It appears that Celtic have done very well to get the midfielder so cheaply. While the player has been touted for big things by some, they still managed to secure him for a low price, and it could well pay dividends in the future.
Whether O’Riley will be a regular starter once everyone is fit, it is hard to know, but if he carries on in the same vein as his debut, he will be very hard to dislodge from the starting eleven.
