Sky Sports journalist Anthony Joseph has confirmed that Celtic were one of the clubs that “showed an interest” in Central Coast Mariners striker Garang Kuol.
The 18-year-old is now poised to join English Premier League side Newcastle United but Joseph says the Scottish champions had been keen on recruiting the forward, along with Borussia Dortmund:
Newcastle United are close to finalising a deal to sign forward Garang Kuol from A League club Central Coast Mariners.
Borussia Dortmund and Celtic also showed an interest in Kuol.

It looks as though Ange Postecoglou was the main instigator behind the Hoops’ pursuit of Kuol. The Celtic boss recently praised the teenager, stating he has “something about him”.
The striker made his international debut against New Zealand after coming on as a substitute in the 2-0 win on Sunday, and it appears he is an outside contender to be included in Australia’s World Cup squad.
With Newcastle now set to sign Kuol, it seems as though Postecogolou was unable to convince the player that a move to Celtic Park was the right one for him.
