Arsenal ‘Tracking’ Celtic Linked Defender Who Could Be Signed For Just 1.2M

Arsenal are “tracking” Hibernian left-back Josh Doig, and could well make a bid for the 18-year-old this summer, according to Football.London.

The Scottish Football Writers’ Association Young Player of the Year has been linked with Celtic and Chelsea in recent months but it appears the Gunners are currently the frontrunners for the defender’s signature.

Doig is believed to have been targeted as he would qualify as part of the Premier League’s homegrown quota, with Arsenal said to be struggling to fill their 25 man squad for next season.

His price tag also makes him an attractive target for potential suitors, with reports in Scotland recently suggesting Hibs could sell him for as little as £1.2m.

With Diego Laxalt not expected to stay beyond the end of the season, Celtic will have just one senior left-back in Greg Taylor so it will be interesting to see whether they will challenge Arsenal for Doig.
