Celtic At Risk Of Missing Out On South American Star After 5M Bids Are Tabled

Brazilian side Corinthians and Belgian Pro League outfit Genk have both made formal offers for Celtic target Fausto Vera, according to reports in Argentina.

The Argentinos Juniors midfielder is seemingly in high demand, with the two teams now believed to have tabled €6m (£5m) bids to secure the player’s services.

Hoops boss Ange Postecoglou has been scouring the market for a holding midfield player and Vera’s name has reportedly been mentioned in recent recruitment meetings.

The Scottish champions had also considered a move for another South American, Vinicius Souza, to strengthen the midfield, but the 23-year-old has finalised a loan switch to Espanyol instead.

It will be disappointing if Celtic do miss out on Vera as well, but the Argentinian Under 23 international’s valuation is pretty high. It’s likely that the search for a midfielder will continue elsewhere.

Metz duo, Amadou Mbengue and Kevin N’Doram, have been linked over the past couple of months so those two names may come back under consideration.
