Celtic Battling Wigan As They Pursue January Loan Deal For Former Scotland Star

Celtic are interested in signing Sheffield Wednesday striker Jordan Rhodes on loan in the January transfer window, according to reports in the Scottish media.

The former Scotland international’s future at Hillsborough is uncertain despite scoring three goals for the Owls in the 4-0 win over Nottingham Forest last weekend.

Rhodes spent last season out on loan at Norwich, scoring nine goals as he helped the Canaries to gain promotion to the Premier League, but he has only played seven times since his return to his parent club in the summer.

Although he has featured more prominently following the arrival of Garry Monk as manager, it is believed the Wednesday boss is looking to sign another forward next month.

If that is indeed true then Rhodes’ future looks bleak. Wigan are believed to be keeping tabs on the 29-year-old’s situation, but Celtic are said to be the favourites to secure his signature as they can match his wage demands.
