Celtic Could Be Set To Miss Out On Premier League Starlet Who Was Praised By Frank Lampard

Celtic and Rangers are trailing Standard Liege in the battle to secure the services of Everton midfielder Isaac Price, according to reports in the English media.

The 19-year-old’s current deal expires at the end of the season and he can sign a pre-contract agreement with clubs outside of England.

Frank Lampard actually gave Price his senior debut for Everton. The now Chelsea boss praised the teenager when he played against Western Sydney Wanderers in the Sydney Cup friendly tournament late last year:

“I thought Isaac was great. He’s had a great trip. He has matured a lot and he has deserved to play because of the way he has trained and the way he has played for the Under-21s, so he’s thrown himself into the equation for the first team now.”

It should also be noted that the midfielder actually faced Celtic during the same tournament. The Hoops have seemingly been keeping tabs on the player since then.

Price is certainly a promising young player, having already been capped by Northern Ireland at senior level on two occasions, but it appears that the chances of him moving to Glasgow are low at the moment, with Standard apparently having the inside track.
