Bayern Munich are very close to sealing the signing of Celtic winger Barry Hepburn, according to reports in the Scottish media.
The 16-year-old has a year to go on his youth academy contract, but the Hoops were hopeful that he would sign his first professional deal and stay at Lennoxtown.
However, Hepburn turned down a new contract and he is now set to make the switch to Germany, to join up with another Celtic academy graduate Liam Morrison.
The defender moved from Scotland to the Bundesliga side last summer, with the 17-year-old developing his game in an Under 17 side managed by German legend Miroslav Klose.
Hepburn, meanwhile, is another promising young player, having already been handed a number of caps for Scotland’s Under 17s.
While Bayern’s interest in Celtic academy stars is a testament to the talent coming through the youth ranks, it will be a major disappointment to see another promising star leave.
