Celtic Given Major Double Selection Boost Ahead Of Rangers Clash

Celtic pair Josip Juranovic and Giorgos Giakoumakis are both expected to be named on the bench for their country’s upcoming friendlies.

Juranovic played the full 90 minutes of Croatia’s 1-1 draw against Slovenia on Saturday, but it has been claimed that he will be rested when his team face Bulgaria tomorrow afternoon.

Giakoumakis, meanwhile, started the 1-0 win over Romania in a friendly last Friday, and the striker is unlikely to be selected to face Montenegro this evening as manager Gus Poyet looks to rotate his squad.

It means that both players should be fit and raring to go for the derby against Rangers on Sunday. While Juranovic may have the best part of an eight-day gap between fixtures, unless he plays a significant role against Bulgaria, Giakoumakis could be very fresh indeed with a nine-day break.

Other players in Celtic’s squad won’t be as lucky. Scotland play Austria tomorrow night and it will be hoped that Callum McGregor is not asked to play the whole match.
