Celtic Handed Injury Boost As First Team Star Returns To Action For His Country

Celtic’s Nir Bitton made his comeback from a hamstring injury in Israel’s Euro 2020 qualifier against Austria on Thursday night. The 27-year-old played the whole game as his side slumped to a disappointing 3-1 defeat.

However, his return to action will be a big positive for Hoops boss Neil Lennon who has used the utility player regularly at the start of this season.

Bitton has more often than not been used as a centre-back at the beginning of this campaign and put in a top-class performance to keep a clean sheet in 2-0 win over Rangers in the Old Firm derby last month.

It was, though, the last time that the Israeli international played for Celtic after picking up the hamstring problem during the second half at Ibrox.

Bitton’s contract with the Scottish champions expires at the end of the season, but it does appear that the club are looking to extend his current deal beyond the summer.
