Celtic Have 3.4M Bid Rebuffed As They Face Big Challenge From Serie A Heavyweight To Secure Teenager’s Signature

Celtic have had a €4m (£3.4m) offer for Aaron Hickey rejected by Bologna, according to reports in the Italian media.

The Scottish club are keen to strengthen the left-back area, with Greg Taylor being the only other player in Ange Postecoglou’s squad who is comfortable playing in that position.

Hickey has been a long-term target for Celtic, but he moved to Italy last year, and his performances have also attracted the interest of a big Serie A team.

Fiorentina are believed to be keen on snapping up the teenager and it’s likely that the Italian side would be able to outbid the Hoops for the defender.

However, Hickey may be more interested in returning to Lennoxtown. The 19-year-old came through Celtic’s academy before moving on to Hearts, and he may feel he has unfinished business at the club. Whether the Hoops can come up with the funds to meet Bologna’s demands, though, we shall have to wait and see.
