Celtic Join Rangers And NINE English Clubs In Pursuing 25 Year Old

Celtic have entered the battle for Hearts centre-back John Souttar, according to reports in the Scottish media.

Glasgow rivals Rangers and nine English Championship teams are also said to be interested in signing the 25-year-old, who is out of contract at the end of May.

Souttar will be able to enter discussions with other clubs in just over a week’s time (on December 1st) ahead of a free transfer at the end of the season.

Hearts have been trying to tie down the Scottish international to a new deal but they haven’t managed to come to an agreement with the defender, after lengthy negotiations.

The Edinburgh side are said to be prepared to sell Souttar in January to ensure he doesn’t leave for free, but it will be up to the player as he can sign a pre-contract agreement before the transfer window reopens.

Souttar has been in excellent form for Hearts this campaign, having previously spent two seasons on the treatment table with ankle and Achilles tendon injuries.
