Celtic Join Rangers As They Make Enquiry For Algerian Midfield Enforcer

Celtic have joined Rangers in registering an interest in Stade Brestois midfielder Haris Belkebla, according to Le Buteur.

The French publication claims that the Algerian international is very keen on moving abroad but Brest’s sporting director Gregory Lorenzi does not want to sell the 26-year-old.

Belkebla is seen by the Ligue One side as a key first-team player and it remains to be seen whether an offer from one of the two Old Firm clubs will convince them into selling up.

Newly promoted Lens are also said to be involved in the battle for the Algerian, but the midfielder’s interest in moving away from France means the two Scottish clubs would be favourites to land him this summer if he becomes available.

Brest are in a position of strength, with Belkebla still having two years remaining on his contract. The defensive midfielder was a first-team regular last campaign, making 23 appearances as his team finished 14th in the league.
