Celtic Join Rangers In Fight For Ligue One Ace As They Line Up Possible Edouard Successor

Celtic have joined Rangers in the race to sign Bordeaux forward Josh Maja, according to the Football Insider. The website claims the Hoops are preparing contingency plans in case they lose Odsonne Edouard.

The Scottish champions are trying to tie down the Frenchman to a longer-term deal, but with the likes of Chelsea, Arsenal, Newcastle and Crystal Palace all said to be interested in the 21-year-old, that could be easier said than done.

Maja was a Celtic target before he moved to Bordeaux from Sunderland in January 2019, and it appears they have been keeping tabs on the Nigerian international’s progress.

This season, the forward has been in pretty decent form, having scored eight goals in 24 appearances, but the player is said to be keen on returning to the UK.

Rangers are also reportedly looking out for a striker if Alfredo Morelos leaves so Maja could well be the subject of an Old Firm battle in the summer.
