Celtic Locked In Discussions To Snap Up Former West Brom Star

Celtic are holding talks with ex-West Brom winger Kyle Edwards, according to reports in the English media.

The 23-year-old came through the academy at the Hawthorns but he decided to leave the Midlands club when his contract expired at the end of last month.

Edwards had been a regular starter during the Baggies’ promotion season, but he only made 12 appearances last campaign, with the majority of his game time coming in cup competitions or as a substitute.

The winger did impress when he was given starts. He scored once and provided two assists in two Carabao Cup ties against Harrogate Town and Brentford, but he was only named in the starting lineup once for a league match.

As Edwards still qualifies as a young player, Celtic will still have to pay compensation to West Brom for development costs, but, due to cross-border rules, the Hoops will only have to shell out £300,000.
