Celtic Make January Transfer Decision On 5M Striker

Celtic have decided to cut their losses on forward Albian Ajeti, according to reports in the Scottish media.

The Swiss international has struggled since being signed from West Ham for £5m in the summer of 2020 and the Hoops will look to offload him when the January transfer window opens.

Ajeti has scored nine goals in 44 appearances for the Scottish club, and his poor work rate and lack of mobility have contributed to the perception that he is a lazy player who doesn’t offer much else apart from his finishing ability.

Celtic are expected to be in the market for another striker in the New Year, despite already having the likes of Kyogo Furuhashi and Giorgos Giakoumakis in the first-team squad.

Ajeti seems to have been deemed unsuitable as third choice, having not made the matchday for the Hoops’ last three matches. He may return to the bench for the Scottish League Cup semi-final clash against St Johnstone this evening, though, with Giakoumakis having been ruled out for the game due to injury.
