Celtic Make Scouting Trip To See Swiss Shot Stopper In Action

Celtic had scouts in attendance to watch Dundee United goalkeeper Benjamin Siegrist play against St Johnstone last weekend, according to reports in the Scottish media.

The former Swiss Under 21 international is now in his third season with the Terrors, having joined from FC Vaduz on a free transfer in the summer of 2018.

Siegrist could well be available for transfer, along with striker Lawrence Shankland, due to United’s financial problems which have resulted from the difficulties associated with the global health crisis.

Celtic signed a new number one goalkeeper in Vasilis Barkas from AEK Athens in the summer but his performances have already come under scrutiny, with Scott Bain pushing for the number one spot after impressing in the 2-2 draw against Lille on Thursday evening.

Whether there is serious interest in Siegrist, we shall have to wait and see. The Swiss has conceded 14 goals and kept three clean sheets in 11 games so far this campaign.
