Celtic Manager Among Those Linked With Premier League Job

Celtic boss Ange Postecoglou is one of several names linked with the vacant Leeds United job, following the dismissal of Jesse Marsch. Despite this, Bhoys fans can rest easy for now, as he isn’t one of the favourites.

According to SkyBet, Postecoglou is currently 12/1 to be the next permanent Leeds manager. This is inconsistent with other betting sites, though – for example, Paddy Power have him at 20/1, while William Hill are giving away odds of 16/1 for him to get the job.

As a general (if tenuous) consensus, the bookmakers have five managers who appear more likely to be in line for the Leeds job than Postecoglou. They are: Ralph Hasenhuttl, Carlos Corberan, Andoni Iraola, Mauricio Pochettino and Marcelo Bielsa.

Currently, Corberan is the early favourite with the bookies. Marcelo Bielsa, who has been at Leeds previously, has also been linked – but he is ‘unlikely’ to take the job according to Fabrizio Romano on Twitter.

Other managers in the running include former Rangers boss Steven Gerrard, ex-Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez and Kjetil Knutsen.

Of course, Celtic fans have seen popular managers depart the club in favour of a move to the Premier League. Bhoys fans will remember when former Liverpool and Swansea City manager Brendan Rodgers left Celtic in February 2019 to take the Leicester City post – however, for now, a move for Postecoglou does not appear to be on the cards.

Marsch was sacked by Leeds on February 6, following a 1-0 away defeat to Nottingham Forest. Currently, the Whites are 17th in the Premier League, just outside of the relegation zone on goal difference.
