‘Way Off The Pace’ ‘Our Weak Link’ ‘Legs Look Gone’ Fans Concerned By Key Celtic Star’s Form

Celtic captain Callum McGregor put in another poor performance as the Hoops crashed out of the Scottish League Cup against Kilmarnock on Sunday.

It’s fair to say that no player performed well in the 1-0 defeat at Rugby Park but McGregor has struggled in all three matches that the Scottish champions have played this season.

Celtic fans on Twitter are worried about the midfielder’s form and there is a concern that he simply doesn’t have the legs to play the role he has been asked by manager Brendan Rodgers:

McGregor has not looked like himself

The 30-year-old usually sets the tone with his passing and forward runs in possession but there has been a lack of energy in his performances so far this campaign.

There is a chance that it could be a fitness issue and McGregor simply needs more game time to get up to speed but he did have a full pre-season so there really shouldn’t be any excuses.

The absence of Hatate has not helped Celtic

With Reo Hatate out injured, having McGregor as the most defensive-minded player in the middle of the park and allowing the likes of David Turnbull and Matt O’Riley to bomb on has disrupted the balance in the middle of the park.

It could be argued that McGregor is missing Hatate’s presence the most at the moment. With the Japanese international not expected to return to action until next month, Rodgers will need to find another solution ASAP.
