Celtic winger Yang Hyun-jun was sent off for a high boot during the Hoops’ 2-0 loss to Hearts on Sunday afternoon.
The South Korean international was initially given a yellow card by referee Don Robertson after his boot connected with the face of Alex Cochrane.
However, after a VAR review, Robertson decided to upgrade the booking to a red card, with Celtic playing the best part of 75 minutes with 10 men. Fans on X disagreed over whether the challenge warranted a sending-off:
Thought it was harsh but Yang gave the ref an opportunity to make a decision.

Shouldnt even be a debate

Never a straight red card.

That still is pretty damning. From that still picture, pretty indefensible

Never is that a red heβs had 2 big decisions in 15 minutes got both wrong

It was reckless from Yang
The winger was always in danger of being red carded once he lifted his foot so high and connected with Cochrane. You could argue it was down to inexperience but it cost him dearly.
Ironically, it was Cochrane who had fouled Yang inside the penalty box earlier in the match, only for Adam Idah to have his spot-kick saved by Zander Clark. Those two moments could prove pivotal in the title race.
Celtic fail to capitalise on Glasgow rival’s defeat
With Rangers having suffered a shock 2-1 home loss to Motherwell a day earlier, many were expecting Brendan Rodgers’ side to captialise.
However, in what is turning out to be a very difficult season for the reigning champions, they failed to take advantage. It must be said that neither Glasgow team is looking convincing at the moment.
