Celtic One Of 3 Clubs To Make Surprise Approach For Manager Who Has Won 25 Major Trophies

Celtic, Valencia and Roma have all approached Jose Mourinho about becoming their next manager, according to Daily Record journalist Duncan Castles.

The reporter is not the most reliable source, so take this with a pinch of salt, but he claims that the Hoops have already registered their interest in the 58-year-old following his sacking by Tottenham last week.

Mourinho has won 25 major trophies in spells with Porto, Chelsea, Inter Milan, Real Madrid and Manchester United. He would certainly be a standout candidate if he is in serious contention for the job at Parkhead.

However, the Portuguese coach was reportedly on as much as £15m a year at Spurs so there is very little chance that Celtic would be able to afford his salary, even if he was interested in moving to Scotland.

Eddie Howe remains the hot favourite to take up the reins at the Scottish club, although there are increasing doubts over whether he is keen to take on the challenge.
