Celtic Targeting Deal For Bargain Championship Forward Who Scored 17 Goals Last Season

Celtic are targeting Swansea forward Andre Ayew, according to reports in the Ghanaian media.

The Hoops are keen on reinforcing their frontline and the 31-year-old could be a smart piece of business as he will be available on a free transfer when his contract expires at the end of this month.

Ayew scored 17 goals as he helped Swansea reach the English Championship playoff final, but he couldn’t prevent the Welsh club from losing 2-0 to Brentford, ending their chances of promotion.

With the Swans unable to afford the Ghanaian international’s wages, the player will be looking for a new club. The Hoops have reportedly considered a move for the forward before, when Brendan Rodgers was still manager, but it seems the Scottish club’s recruitment department feel he would still be a great addition to the squad.

One concern will be the fact that Celtic remain without a manager or director of football, meaning Ayew could be snapped up by another club before the new management team can make a decision on whether to sign him.
