Celtic ‘Will Lodge A Final Offer’ For 1M+ Rated Defender Before Deadline Day

Celtic are preparing one more bid for Charlton wingback Alfie Doughty, according to the Daily Record. The newspaper claims the Hoops “will lodge a final offer” for the 20-year-old before the transfer window closes.

The Scottish champions have already had two bids turned down by the English club for the player, with the last proposal said to be in the region of £600,000.

Addicks boss Lee Bowyer has said he would be prepared to turn down as much as £1m for Doughty, despite the fact that the defender will be able to sign a pre-contract agreement with Celtic in January.

His current deal with Charlton expires at the end of the season but Celtic would prefer to sign him now as they only have one recognised left-back in Greg Taylor, who has struggled for form in the opening weeks of the season.

Manager Neil Lennon has asked for reinforcements in that area and, if their last offer for Doughty is rejected, they will move on to alternatives.
