Ex Celtic Star Claims The Hoops Could Be Due A 16M Windfall If They Make Key Transfer Decision

Ramon Vega believes that Celtic could double their money on Cameron Carter-Vickers in the future if they take up their option to buy him this summer.

The American has been outstanding since arriving on loan from Tottenham, summed up by his man of the match performance against Rangers last week, and Vega feels that, even if the Hoops have to pay £8m for the player, it could still prove to be a valuable investment:

“If they can get [him for] around that £8million mark, there is no doubt they should take the player and make the signing. If they qualify for the Champions League, he is a player who needs to be there. Don’t forget, he isn’t old. He is quite young and, if he really performs well, he could be valued at double that amount in going back to England in four or five years.”

It is an interesting take from Vega. Carter-Vickers has only just turned 24 and, if he stays at Celtic Park and performs well over the next few years, his stock will rise.

Reports suggest that the centre-back would actually cost an initial £6m, with another £4m in add-ons, but selling him on for around £16m in the future would not be a bad return.

Carter-Vickers still has to decide, though, whether he wants to join Celtic on a permanent basis, with reports suggesting Leicester, Wolves and Burnley are also keen on him.
