Celtic are interested in signing Lech Poznan right-back Robert Gumny, according to reports in the UK. The former Polish Under 19 international is said to be available for £6m.
The 21-year-old has been linked with a move to Southampton in recent weeks and was on the verge of joining Bundesliga side Borussia Monchengladbach last January. However, after the Hoops’ exit from the Champions League, some fans on Twitter are not optimistic about a bid:
Get him in!

Don’t get your hopes up been trying all summer to sign a right back can’t sign one playing a centre half there scouting system needs looked at

I can’t see any truth in this. We’d never pay that much for someone with such poor stats. We’ve already signed a good RB so why would we spend so much on another RB when we desperately need a LB.

Recent top polish players have left for 3 – 4 so that’s the starting figure

With the loss to Cluj last night, a sizeable amount of the club’s transfer budget may have been lost. Even so, the club desperately need to strengthen the defence.
They have brought into two fullbacks in Hatem Abd Elhamed and Boli Bolingoli this summer but there is still a need for more reinforcements.
Kristoffer Ajer has had to play at right-back in Abd Elhamed’s absence while Kieran Tierney’s departure for Arsenal means they have limited options on the left-hand side too.
Still, that doesn’t explain the thinking behind manager Neil Lennon’s decision to start Callum McGregor in the position last night. It’s been a chaotic summer so far and more needs to be done in the transfer market to ensure there is a competitive squad for the rest of the season.
